Putting the finishing touches on the finale of the Boise mini-series tonight. Here’s the first book I found about the scandal, a fabulous read. Gerassi tells the story so well, explaining complicated power dynamics while setting up big (true) mysteries. In the last few eps we got into the roadblocks he hit while trying to write the book (call from governor, motel raid, etc). Gerassi was pretty bold — this 1966 book is HIGHLY critical of the police, recommended decriminalizing homosexuality and sex work, succinctly explains why church is a cult, and subtly throws shade on some of the most powerful men in Idaho at the time. So grateful for this resource.
